Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards traces its family farming history in Hector, New York, to 1852, when David and Clarissa Hazlitt purchased land with fruit trees and vineyards. The modern winery was founded in 1985 by Jerry and Elaine Hazlitt, with Red Cat among the flagship wines released that year. In 2011, the Hazlitt family purchased the former Widmer Wine Cellars facility in Naples, New York, now Hazlitt Red Cat Cellars, to expand production of Red Cat. The winery presents Red Cat as its famous sweet, social Finger Lakes wine.
