Sonoma-Cutrer is based in Windsor, in the heart of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. Brice Cutrer Jones planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay cuttings in 1974 with a vision of making California wine in a French-influenced style. The winery is especially known for Chardonnay, using practices such as hand harvesting, whole-cluster pressing, barrel fermentation, sur-lies stirring and French oak maturation. Its estate vineyard program spans Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast sites, and the winery emphasizes consistent, terroir-focused wines.
