Schlink Haus traces its family wine history to 1886, when Josef Barthelmeh founded the winery in Wallhausen in the Nahe River Valley. The family business later moved to Bad Kreuznach under Gunther and Rosemarie Schlink, and Michael Schlink became president and owner in 1991. The brand is closely associated with blue-bottle German Riesling in the U.S. market, with Wein-Bauer noting that the Schlink family has produced blue-bottle Riesling for more than 200 years. The Nahe is a small German wine region known for varied soils, including slate, sandstone, clay, limestone and volcanic-influenced formations.
