Menage a Trois launched in St. Helena, California in 1996 with a convention-shattering blend of three red varietals - Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon - long before blends were a trend in the United States. That original red blend is widely credited as the catalyst behind today's popular California Red Blend category. The brand grew largely by word of mouth, adding white and rose blends, and expanded significantly after joining the Trinchero Family Estates portfolio in 2004. Its label art - twin dancers inspired by Rorschach inkblots - and playful wine names like Silk, Limelight, Lavish and Luscious signal the house style: bold, sensual and unapologetically flavor-forward. Decadence is the lineup's most extravagant Cabernet Sauvignon.
