Ravenswood was founded by Joel Peterson in 1976 and became closely associated with California Zinfandel. The winery's own history describes Peterson as a key figure in revitalizing Zinfandel through site-specific Sonoma County wines. GALLO has since relaunched Ravenswood with a modern, Zinfandel-focused portfolio beginning with the 2023 vintage.
