Terre Nere Montalcino works 15 hectares in the southeast of Montalcino, in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate area near Castello della Velona. The estate has 10 hectares of vines, mostly Sangiovese, surrounded by woods and shaped by the dark, mineral soils associated with nearby Monte Amiata. The winery describes its farming as organic and focused on biodiversity and respect for the land. Its Rosso di Montalcino is the fresher, earlier-drinking sibling to Brunello, centered on Sangiovese Grosso from the same Montalcino landscape.
