Franklin Hill Vineyards is based at 7833 Franklin Hill Road in Bangor, Pennsylvania. The winery story dates to Elaine and Charles Flatt's purchase of a 35-acre farm in 1975, followed by the first vineyard plantings inspired by Cornell's work with French-American hybrids. Franklin Hill opened its doors in 1982 and built its identity around a close-knit team, with Bonnie identified by the winery as head winemaker. Sir Walter's Red was renamed in 1997 as a tribute to Elaine's father Walter, whose silhouette appears on the label.
