What it tastes like

Crisp orchard fruit - green apple and pear - with almond and honey aromas and a soft vanilla-tinged finish. It is dry, medium-bodied, and rounder than a lean unoaked white without being heavy or buttery.

You’ll like this if…

You like middle-of-the-road Chardonnay: fuller than Pinot Grigio, gentler than a big oaky California Chard.

Why buy it

A dependable house white at a fair price, with a screw cap that makes it easy to open a bottle on a Tuesday and finish it Thursday.

Best for

Feeding a crowd with mixed tastes, or keeping a chilled backup bottle in the fridge door.

Style

Dry, medium-bodied white with light oak influence and ripe orchard-fruit character.

Drinks like

Similar in spirit to Macon-Villages, unreserved Chilean Chardonnay, or a soft, lightly oaked Central Coast Chardonnay.

Experience level

Beginner-friendly - nothing here needs explaining.

Pairs well with

blackened salmon · fried or grilled calamari · pasta or chicken in a cream sauce · roast chicken with herbs and lemon · mild cheeses like brie, comte, or young gouda · mushroom risotto or corn chowder

About the winery · HobNob Wines ›

HobNob is a French-rooted value brand sold in the US by Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits of Stamford, Connecticut. The brand was developed in partnership with Les Vins Georges Duboeuf, the well-known Beaujolais-based house, and is built around approachable, fruit-forward varietal wines. The lineup covers Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a blend called Wicked Red, most of them bottled under screw cap. The name is a nod to the old expression for clinking glasses and mingling, which sums up how these wines are meant to be used: poured freely among friends rather than studied.
