What it tastes like

Blackberry, black plum and cassis with black pepper, baking spice and toasted cedar-oak; full-bodied with smooth, velvety tannins.

You’ll like this if…

You want a step up in polish from everyday Cabernet — more structure and savor, still smooth enough for tonight.

Why buy it

A 149-year-old Sonoma name at a price the history alone would justify; the 2019 Sonoma County bottling earned 90 points from critic Natalie MacLean.

Best for

Rib steak, roasts, and dinners that deserve a slightly better bottle.

Style

Full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon in a polished, oak-kissed Sonoma style.

Drinks like

Sits between Josh Cabernet and Napa bottlings — near Louis Martini Sonoma in feel.

Experience level

Comfortable middle ground — rewarding without being demanding.

Pairs well with

Beef: Rib steak on the grill(critic pick) · Garlic and herb rib roast(critic pick) · Sirloin burger(critic pick)

Cheese: Aged cheddar or manchego
