J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines was founded by Jerry Lohr, one of the early pioneers who helped establish the California Central Coast as a serious winegrowing region. The family began planting in Monterey in the early 1970s and later recognized Paso Robles as a strong home for Cabernet Sauvignon and other red varieties. Today the winery remains family owned, with estate vineyards in Monterey, Paso Robles, and St. Helena. The Seven Oaks Cabernet sits in the J. Lohr Estates tier and is positioned as the original Paso Robles Cabernet expression from the producer.
