What makes Champagne different

Champagne is made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grown in the cool Champagne region, then fermented a second time inside the bottle and aged on its yeast for at least fifteen months (three years for vintage bottlings). That aging is where the brioche, toast and hazelnut notes come from, layered over crisp apple and citrus.

Non-vintage (NV) Champagne blends several years for a consistent house style and is the everyday choice. Blanc de Blancs is all Chardonnay and leaner; Blanc de Noirs is from the black grapes and richer; rosé Champagne adds a little still red wine for color and berry fruit.

Frequently asked questions

Is Champagne dry?
Brut, the most common style, is dry. Extra Brut and Brut Nature are drier still; Extra Dry and Demi-Sec carry noticeable sweetness.
How should Champagne be stored?
Cool, dark and on its side if it has a cork. Non-vintage Champagne is ready to drink on release and keeps well for a couple of years.
