Locations Wine is a Dave Phinney project built around blends that represent a country or location rather than one traditional appellation. Phinney's winemaking path began after a semester in Florence, followed by harvest work at Robert Mondavi Winery in 1997 and the founding of his first wine brand in 1998. The Locations philosophy is to blend across appellations and reduce traditional restrictions in order to express a broader sense of place. For the French red, the project draws on Rhone, Roussillon, and Bordeaux fruit sources.
