About the winery · Cloudy Bay ›

Cloudy Bay was launched in Marlborough in 1985 by David Hohnen and winemaker Kevin Judd, and its Sauvignon Blanc helped introduce New Zealand wine to a global audience. The winery focuses on regional expression and careful selection, with lower yields than the regional average according to the producer. Its Marlborough vineyard parcels include stony, sandy, free-draining sites near the Wairau River that are well suited to Sauvignon Blanc. Cloudy Bay now also makes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, sparkling Pelorus, Te Koko and Central Otago Pinot Noir.
