Columbia Crest is based in eastern Washington along the Columbia River and was the first winery in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The winery opened in 1982 and focuses on Washington-grown wines that express varietal character and regional fruit. Its Grand Estates tier is described by the winery as combining artisan winemaking with Washington vineyard sourcing to deliver quality and value. Columbia Crest has also earned broad critical recognition, including Wine Spectator's 2009 Wine of the Year for its 2005 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon.
