Ruffino traces its roots to 1877, when cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino founded the winery in Pontassieve, near Chianti's vineyards. The house is closely associated with Tuscan classics and with a long history of combining tradition and innovation. Modus was introduced in 1997 and is described by Ruffino as its first Super Tuscan. Today Ruffino presents Modus as a contemporary Toscana IGT blend built around balance among Tuscan terroir, Sangiovese and international varieties.
