Same grape, two styles. Italian Pinot Grigio is picked early and made lean: pear, lemon, green almond, a clean neutral finish. Pinot Gris, the French and Oregon name, is riper and rounder with more peach and spice. Both are dry; the Italian style is the lighter of the two.
Shrimp, calamari, light pasta, chicken salad, sushi and antipasti. Its neutrality is a feature: it refreshes without competing with the food. Serve cold, 45–50°F.
