Savings are calculated from the compare-at price recorded for each bottle.
At this price Cabernet is ripe, generous and ready to drink: blackberry and black cherry up front, soft vanilla from oak alternatives or short barrel time, and tannin that is present but not demanding. You will not find the density of a Napa Valley bottling here, and you do not need it for a weeknight steak, burgers or a pot of chili.
The strongest values are broad-appellation California wines from producers who make Cabernet in volume, Washington State Cabernet with its brighter acidity, and Chilean Cabernet from Maipo, which often carries the most structure for the money.
Start with the Body and Tannin scales on each product page — a 4 on both means a classic full-bodied Cabernet. A verified 90-point score under $25 marks the bottles critics singled out. If you prefer softer reds, look for 'smooth' or 'plush' in the tasting notes or consider a Merlot or red blend instead.
Serve at 60–65°F, decant young bottles for twenty minutes, and pair with grilled beef, lamb chops, portobello mushrooms or sharp cheddar.
